Major cities in the country are connected by a network of roads. Generally, they are uncongested but driving inside Marrakech is not recommended due to the constant traffic jams, scooters, trucks, and donkeys. Some outskirts of Marrakech are not yet paved so driving is difficult in Marrakech.

To the main cities Marrakech is linked through highways of generally two lanes, one in each direction. The main ones are to Clasablanca P7, to Fes P24, to Ouarzazate P31, and to Essaouria P10.

Also, it is possible to arrive from Spain to Marrakech thanks to the service of two companies, Alsa and Eurolines. The journey is made by land and includes the ferry that crosses the Strait of Gibraltar. From Madrid, it takes approximately 26 hours and costs about € 100.

Improving for a better city...

It seems that the bus station has a renovation project, of which the date is not known so far. The contest was international, launched in 2014 and it seems that one company is the winner, Archello (Quddus, 2014).

However, there are a large number of interesting proyects. This new station aims to create sustainable equipment that will survive both the passing of the years and future developments in the city, the project for the new bus station proposes to address each of these problematics individually via: the absolute division of transport flows, spatial continuity, and interdependence between each constructed entity, the reduction of the scale of the buildings to create a complex on a human scale, as well as the establishment of a landscaped and ecological environment (Archello, 2020).
